At Edmonds Veterinary Hospital, our goal is to ensure your pet receives medications that are safe, effective, and properly monitored. Here’s what you should know about our pharmacy services and policies.
We offer both an in-hospital pharmacy and a trusted online pharmacy (Vetsource) for convenience and reliability. Ordering through us ensures:
Medications are sourced from licensed, veterinary-only distributors
Prescriptions are reviewed and approved by your veterinarian
Products are genuine, not counterfeit or unsafe alternatives
Many medications and diets can be delivered right to your door with free shipping
If you choose to use an external pharmacy outside of our in-house pharmacy, Vetsource, or a compounding pharmacy, an annual administrative fee of $15 will apply.
This one-time yearly fee covers:
All pets in your household
All prescription requests and refills for the year
The fee helps offset the administrative time required for:
Reviewing and approving external prescription requests
Communicating with third-party pharmacies
Documenting prescription approvals in your pet’s medical record
By law, an annual veterinary exam is required to authorize prescription refills. Some medications have additional requirements:
Antibiotics and antifungals: Always require an in-person exam prior to refill
Medications needing monitoring: Blood work may be required before authorizing refills to ensure safety and effectiveness
By using our in-house or online pharmacy, you not only avoid the alternative pharmacy fee, but you also gain peace of mind knowing:
Medications are safe, effective, and properly stored
Prescriptions are monitored by your veterinarian
Orders are convenient, reliable, and secure
While Edmonds Veterinary Hospital does not provide 24-hour emergency services, we want to ensure your pets are always in safe hands. For urgent medical situations outside of our regular hours, we refer clients to trusted local emergency veterinary hospitals.
